Default "Ah, Aint nothing like HOME"

So i had this idea last night. Houses for characters. Now i thought that this does seem like it would take a good deal of programming and data and the like. so i thought of like "rent". You could buy houses in cities, each city only having so many houses but then have a monthly charge. And Cities shouldnt be the only place to have houses. Have some in the zones. These of course would generally cost more or less, im not an expert with housing and what cost more. =P but heres like an example;

House in Kaineg City = 100k to buy (its a crowded city) and then 10k a month for rent to hold onto it.

Now with housing comes what we all want. More Storage. BUT houses can be broken into if you dont lock the doors when you leave. So simply lock your house before you leave and no one can get in unless they have a key. And if they can get in., well, then they can get your things youve stored in there. of course this would mean houses themselves would have to be their own zones so multiple people cant steal the same thing in different zoned places =X. well. just a thought.

....I don't want this game to turn into the next runescape.I don't want Houses and smithing and mining and fishing and all this other crap. Also why would you need a house when you can get a Guild hall and just customize it ? People can visit them if they are a guest right so what's wrong with that ?

Honestly i havent kept up with runescape in years so i dont know whats going on with that. And like i said theres a limited amount of housing plus one house goes for a whole account. and like i said its like extra storage =X I havent thought of any other bonuses to it tho now that i think about it. hmm maybe it could have like a rez shrine probabilities. Where if you die you and your party can rez inside it or something. Like its own little city you can change skills and things in there. also tho that would mean wed have to make it so if your present in your home stuff cant be stolen.

No, its not stupid, its actually a good idea(could be part of "Rebuilding Ascalon"). NWN's Nordock mod has player houses(yes I have one, got a keg of ale for the housewarming party . Player housing in towns wont work, for obvious reasons, but with instanced areas, they could have a place to themselves. It could be mad similar to a guild hall, Id guess, but ALOT smaller(standard woul be for 1 person, almost a shack), and could be able to upgrade to larger, but all would be VERY expensive, and upgrading to larger house would need time to tear down old one, then clear debris, then start building new one.

eh i don't think it would work so well, unlike runescpae guild wars doesn't look like a pile of lousy java annimation. For how much space it would take to pay for all that i would think they would almost need to make a seperate game.

Guildwars : House Building

Description : Build a house and invite your friends. You can so a lot of things in your house. Not very exciting, well no way! Defend your house from the terror of MOLD, and termites! Never a dull moment dusting and making your house shine. If you add on you better watch your money or you will be out on you butt when the bank takes back your house!

Eh makes it sounds like real life lol, still that was just something stupid, still i just think i would rather them give us a huge storage than a house.

Someone already stated this suggestion, now the question is, why?

I echo the preceding replies. Why add server load for something that has minimal relevance to both storyline and PvP?

Because there seems to be an ever increasing amount of role-players that are purely PvE that are wanting time sinks as well as money sinks. These same people want little or nothing to do with PvP and are requesting features that other games they used to play (before friends or family invited them into GW) had and that they enjoyed.

Districts where missions are already becoming empty and void of players shows a sign that players are becoming bored with GW and that Anet's PvP as a time sink isn't for everyone. Rather than the staple ignorant "then GW isn't for you" responce, players and fans of GW and those that would like to see the franchise last years from now, should work on requesting features that will keep ALL players, not just those with like tastes. Personally, I would love to see all PvP things shut down and Anet work on purely PvE content; but that would be very dumb of Anet because they would lose repeat customers and players would move on; so I will never suggest such a silly thing.

The more players GW wins over from games like WoW, EQ2 and the like, will result in more requests like this. Players might like the initial newness and different playstyle GW has, but it wears thin really fast and the players that are used to more content will be requesting it. When it's not gotten, they will move on.

Just because something is added as a time sink (if crafting was ever added); doesn't mean you have to partake in it. Just like PvP, it's optional and something to do.

Does this suggestion have anything to do with the story? Nope. Could it? Nope. Still, it's something to do, so...

BIG NO NO on none-instanize house and homes.

It need to be something like Guild Hall.

But Yes, at this point of game, House and Home (As well as all the features that could go inside) is much needed.

I'm sorry that is a flat out lie - if crafting is added, you will HAVE to partake in it because it would be essential, very UNLIKE PvP which you can ignore completely if you want to.

Edited due to above post edit.

As for the spirit of GW... again, I think as we move on with the franchise we will see more and more players wanting more of these things. The quests in Factions alone shows that the content is thin at best and time sinks will be needed if the RPGer (or PvE) are going to stay with it in the long run.

Chapter 3 will be a huge test point for many. If it's a thin as Factions, it will surely be my last purchase in the franchise. If Anet wants to continue winning over more customers then they will start adding features like crafting as there are a great many players that do enjoy doing that.

Keeping in mind, people have different tastes in what they enjoy; and a game that covers more of what people enjoy will naturally get more players.

This could work for customizing entire Guild Halls, but not houses owned individually.

No more Gold Sinks please..

I wouldn't mind another gold sink, but something useless as a home, I'm against.

i'm not sure about rent... but have a place to have your mini pets wander around and "house items" (just to add something new) would be nice... i'd be for it..

My god people, this is just going to far. GW is a game to roleplay, fight, and adventure, not sit at a virtual home doing nothing. Play the Sims if you want that.

If you're moving around the continent, why would you need a home?

I'd rather sleep under the stars.

Besides, I wouldn't pay 10K a month for it. Hell, I wouldn't pay 10K for it.
